Pointwest BPM to celebrate 12 years of growth and success

Pointwest BPO took shot during the company outing 2016

Who would have thought that after venturing to Healthcare Business Process Management (BPM) space in 2004 with only five members, this business is now one of the largest Pointwest business units with over 300 people running client operations?

Pointwest BPM provides services to the largest Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) firm listed in Fortune 500 world’s most admired companies in the United States.

Business Process Specialist/Coordinator David Palubon said in an interview that the success of the BPM depends on its ability to maintain relationships and obligations with their clients.

“We have a very good industry foundation, competitive employees and we value everything..we always value what matters” he added.

Getting the Business Started (2004-2006)

It was in 2004, when the Philippines opened the opportunity and saw an influx of foreign investment in global sourcing service in the PBM industry.  Led and directed by Pointwest pioneer-leaders,  the pilot team met the challenges and risks with their innate customer service awareness, clinical knowledge and  technological capabilities as man investment.

The Company strategized to combine the clinical knowledge-base of certified Pharmacists and the technical know how of Data Analysts to learn and thrive in the Pharmacy Benefit Management niche.

Industrializing the business (2006-2012)

The business unit reached 300 in employees by the end of 2012 despite economic fluctuations and political instability in 2008-2010.

Pointwest put IT in BPM practice toward an industrialized model. Technology solution and development, screen scraping, coding process automation, business analysis, business tool and client installation were added to its services to achieve far higher levels of productivity.

During this period, the Company’s accomplishments were also recognized in the International ICT Awards as the “Best Mid-Sized Locally Owned BPM Company of the Year” at the e-Services Awards in 2008.

Digitizing the business (2013 onwards)

Pointwest accelerated the digitization of their business process. Given the dynamic landscape of the external market where clients now look beyond technology and expect their service providers to offer verticalized solutions or services, Pointwest embarked on a business transformation journey in 2013. Organizational structures were redesigned in 2014. Healthcare BPM also welcomed improvements on competency framework in 2015.

Quezon City - Pointwest, one of the leading IT-BPM firms, remains strong on their job offers despite the growing number of players in the industry today.

Pointwest’s Recruitment Coordinator Joanne Basilio said that Pointwest hiring rate keeps its upward trajectory considering the competition, the country’s current volatile market conditions and political instability.

“We are processing more or less 1500 applicants monthly. The company is joining a job fair as well, across the country, to hire more competitive individuals”, she added.

While the hiring rate in this industry remains huge, one of the challenges faced by other companies is the attrition rate.

The company has set different programs that keep the average attrition rate at manageable levels.

Pointwest, with the help of its Learning and Development (L&D) team, has crafted a well-defined roadmap for career growth.

Pointwest L&D supervisors said that continuous improvement is their priority. Pointwest offers opportunities for learning and development, whether they are skills and competency enhancements or special interest learning sessions. Thus, this will encourage employees to stay in the company.

On strict hiring process:

In its capability statement issued, Pointwest maintained their people as their greatest assets and take pride in the fact that they spare no expense when it comes to finding, and hiring individuals to ensure the people they find have the skill, the drive, and the passion to scale new heights.

Pointwest process management is based on both international quality standards and industry best practices.

2016 Limelight:

Pointwest, would be closing employee population of about 1300 today.

The increase in its hiring rate is evident as Pointwest just inaugurated its third delivery center in Metro Manila: the Pointwest Digital Center at the Rockwell Business Center in Pasig City.
